Three-Year Blogiversary!

Today marks the three-year blogiversary of Think Wilder. It's been quite a busy year for me and for the blog. During the past year I started writing for Psychedelic Times, participated on a panel for a Psychedelic Career Day webinar (hosted by the Toronto Psychedelic Society), created a monthly Think Wilder email newsletter, and increased the output of blog posts on this site.

At the one-year blogiversary of Think Wilder, I announced a full 2.0 site redesign. That redesign made it easier to navigate through the site and improved its visual design. A UI/UX upgrade, if you will.

During last year's two-year blogiversary I made the promise that I would start writing more featured posts and dedicate more time to writing and working on the blog. That goal is sort of difficult to measure, but I do feel like I dedicated more time to writing and working on the blog and ended up publishing more featured posts toward the latter half of the year. I feel like this last year pushed me harder as a writer than any years prior, and I'm proud of the work that I accomplished—both with this site and other writing endeavors.

I have three announcements that I am excited to make about new pages that I have created for this site.

For a long time I think that it's been tough for a brand-new Think Wilder visitor to know where to get started on the site. That's why I created a new Start Here page that will give new readers a taste of what to expect from this blog. And if you've been around for a while but haven't checked out my back catalog of blog posts, you might like to take a look at it as well.

Although I have written for a few web sites in the past, I've been wanting to expand even more and start writing for some new blogs and publications. So to that end, I created a new Hire Me page to let publishers and editors know that I can be hired for freelance writing projects. I'm hoping that I can get some more clients and get featured on some other publications during the next year. If you have a blog or publication and are looking for writers, feel free to get in touch with me and we can find out whether my services would be a good fit for you.

In fact, I only started making some money from freelance writing projects during this past year. Ever since the start, Think Wilder has been a labor of love. I've put money and effort into the site but haven't made a cent off of this blog. Part of that is because I do not want to become an ad-supported project, and haven't been willing to host ads here. I've decided that I am more interested in giving the patron-supported model a try. Now there is a Support page on this site that will enable readers who are willing and able to donate to offset the expenses for keeping this blog can begin doing so. If you feel that you have gotten value from my blog in the past, I encourage you to make a donation to my Patreon account. I will be grateful for anything that you are able to contribute—thank you!

As you can see, it's been a busy year for Think Wilder. Each year this blog becomes more mature and my skills as a writer improve. I'm excited to see what happens during the next year and hope you'll stick with me on that journey.

I have been working on the launch of a brand-new Think Wilder monthly email newsletter and will be sending the first-ever newsletter out at the beginning of February. Each newsletter will recap the best blog posts that were published on the blog during the previous month, making it easy to see each month's posts at a quick glance. Hello readers! I will out of town this week with extremely limited access to the Internet, so this week's "This Week in Psychedelics" column will be published sometime next week—most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday. (However, the "Weekend Thoughts" article will be published on Saturday as per usual.) Thank you for your patience!

Today marks the Two-Year Blogiversary of Think Wilder. When I started this blog back in 2015, I had no idea how long I would stay interested enough in the project to keep cranking out regular posts, but at this point in time I can say that I'm as motivated as ever before and have some fun and exciting future things in the works!

Last year's One-Year Blogiversary came with a full 2.0 redesign, which improved on the visual aspects of the site's presentation and also made navigating through the site much easier. Today's post doesn't bring any site improvements, however I would like to make a formal promise that readers will see more featured posts (in other words, posts other than the regular This Week in Psychedelics and Weekend Thoughts columns) this year. I'm planning to dedicate more of my time to writing for the blog and coming up with some new additions as well.

To those of you reading this post, thank you for your continued support and staying along while I learn how to make this project even better! And as always, keep thinking wilder!

This Week's Posts Will Be Delayed

Hello y'all! I apologize—this week's "This Week in Psychedelics" and "Weekend Thoughts" columns will be delayed by a few days because I am currently at the Suwannee Hulaween music festival, in Live Oak, Florida. As such, I don't have access to a computer (or a consistently-reliable Internet connection) to finish this week's posts at the level of quality that I normally demand from myself. Thank you for your patience, and please stay tuned next week (most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday) for the belated publication of "This Week in Psychedelics" and "Weekend Thoughts"!

Think Wilder was launched one year ago on March 27, 2015. Since then, I have learned a lot about blogging, developing a regular writing practice, news cultivation, and more recently website design. It is with great pleasure that I announce a new design today!

For the past year, I have received feedback from many of you that it would be nice if it was easier to get around the site. First of all, thank you for the feedback and keep it coming! Although I have been tagging posts and placing them in categories, I realize that it has been difficult to find other pages on the site aside from stumbling upon those categorization options and the pagination available at the bottom of the site. There is now a sidebar on the right side of the site that will allow you to view popular posts, featured posts, and a list of categories. I plan to add more navigational capability in the future as well.

I have additional plans for Think Wilder that will be launching in the next few months. To those of you reading this post, thank you for your continued support and staying along while I learn how to make this project even better! As always, keep thinking wilder!

An Introduction

Hello y'all and welcome to Think Wilder. My name is David Wilder and I am a 28 year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina. I decided to start this blog as a way to express my thoughts and spread my message to the world.

Although I have not yet decided on the focus of this blog, my vision is that this will be a space for me to share my thoughts and exercise my voice on a variety of topics. My main interests include music, reading and writing, plant-based diets, fitness, meditation and yoga, psychoactive drugs, gardening, alternative economics, and self-development. My hope is that I will explore all of these topics and many more on Think Wilder.

I must admit upfront that I have abandoned a few blogs in the past, including a cigar review blog and a book review blog, but I am going to commit to publishing at least one blog post per week on Think Wilder. Hopefully I will continue to grow as a writer and a person while working on this blog, and would like to invite anyone who is interested to strap in and enjoy the ride with me.
